ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
This man, born on July 30, 1947 in Thal, Austria, has become a global icon. He inspires many around the world and continues to fight for his beliefs, which brings us back to climate change. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the man with one of the hardest last names to spell, has helped California revamp its policies on pollution and incentives for green energy. Arnold is known for his persistence, he even said that he would meet with other cities and discuss cutting emissions if a global deal hasn't been reached. In the United States on September 27, 2006, Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the first bill that capped greenhouse emissions. This bill limited the amount of utilities, manufacturing plants and refineries that can operate in California. He eventually signed another global warming bill that prohibited companies from signing long-term contracts with other companies or corporations that disobey or do not follow the state's greenhouse gas emissions standards. Arnold Schwarzenegger continues to lead the fight on climate change and continues to show his support of green energy use. Schwarzenegger was one of the first people to help start recognizing the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions on the environment. Without his contributions, dedication, and terminator movies, this world would not be the same as we currently know it.

I had no idea that Arnold (I don't even want to try to spell his last name) played a role in raising global climate issues via politics. I mean I knew he was governor but had no idea he was so passionate about this sort of thing. This "green" revolution must happen soon or the world as we know it may change.
ReplyDeleteGreat opening sentence! Definitely an eye catcher! Arnold Schwarzenegger has without a doubt achieved and accomplished many things in life. I'm actually quite impressed that he was one of the first people to realize what effects the greenhouse gas emissions has on the environment. It's good know he is persistent on wanting to cut the greenhouse emissions. If everyone could think and be like Arnold we could slow the progress of global warming!
ReplyDeleteI love the attention grabbing and informal tone you use in your posts, they are very easy to read. I do wish there was a bit more to read though. All things aside, I think Arnold Schwarzenegger is a unique person to focus on since he is not a scholar in the field but can still boast great progress towards helping our climate. As a politician he has a lot more influence on legislation and the fact that he is using his political power in order to cap carbon emissions in his state and keep companies accountable is more than many other politicians in greater positions of power have been doing. For that I applaud him, though I will admit it is probably easier to pass bills in the green state of California than some other places. I really did not know about his efforts though,and I appreciate the post. To think that he said he would begin working within the U.S. to cut carbon emissions if progress was not made internationally, what a guy! Glad to have him on the side of a sustainable future.

ReplyDeleteGreat opening line and title, Predator is a movie I've seen numerous of times and really got me engaged to your blog. I had no clue that Arnold was so big on protecting the environment. I knew he was a politician, an actor and I knew he was a muscle champion. I'm really glad that I learned about his goals towards making Earth cleaner and I support his ideas. It is really important to take care of the environment because it is essential and necessary for our every day lives. I'm also surprised and impressed that Arnold was one of the first people to realize the negative things that greenhouse gas emissions bring to the environment. I'm glad Arnold and other people are fighting to make the Earth cleaner.
Great blog post! Everyone knows who Arnold is. Makes me love him even more. Who would say no to Arnold? Someone not very smart. But, seriously, well written and interesting. A lot of people pay attention to what he does, and I hope that many people will listen and learn about everything that he has done. Arnold is a very dynamic person. People can relate to him because of his movie career. I think he is great and I hope he is around for long time to help inspire people in the fight against global warming.
